# Yash Bavadiya (xevrion) > Developer Relations Engineer at Workers IO (YC F26), Google Summer of Code 2026 contributor to KDE Kdenlive, and the author of HatchZip, which extracts huge archives in place so they need no extra disk space, and Breakscale, a system design simulator in Vercel's Open Source Program. Computer Science student at IIT Jodhpur. This is Yash's personal site: his work, projects, open source contributions and writing. The fastest way to reach him is email. ## Contact - [Email](mailto:me@xevrion.dev): me@xevrion.dev - [Book a call](https://xevrion.dev/book): a 15-minute chat or a 30-minute project call - [Resume](https://xevrion.dev/resume.pdf) - [GitHub](https://github.com/xevrion) - [X](https://x.com/xevrion_the1) - [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/yash-bavadiya) ## Work - [Workers IO (YC F26)](https://workers.io/): Developer Relations Engineer, Sep 2026 – Present. Leading developer relations at Workers IO, a YC F26 startup. A founder reached out after seeing Breakscale, and the offer came 10 days after the repo went up. I never applied. - [Vercel OSS Program × Breakscale](https://breakscale.tech): Founder & Maintainer, Aug 2026 – Present. Selected for Vercel's Summer 2026 Open Source Program in September 2026, which backs Breakscale for the next 12 months. - [Google Summer of Code 2026 · KDE Kdenlive](https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/merge_requests/887): Open Source Contributor (C++ / Qt), May 2026 – Sep 2026. Selected among ~1,200 contributors worldwide for a 350-hour Large Project, and shipped all three of it: a per-channel RGB curve editor with tabs, a 32-stop gradient map editor, and a speed ramp UI built on Kdenlive's keyframe types. All merged into master and released in Kdenlive 26.08, written in C++ and Qt under maintainer Jean-Baptiste Mardelle. - [Open Source](https://github.com/nlohmann/json/pull/5332): Contributor, 2025 – Present. 72 merged pull requests into repositories I don't own, across nuxt/nuxt, kubernetes-sigs/headlamp, nlohmann/json, vitest, croc, Zeal and OneUptime, plus 20+ upstream contributions to KDE Kdenlive and MLT through GSoC 2026. ## Projects - [HatchZip](https://hatchzip.dev): Extract huge archives in place. It unpacks from the end and cuts the archive shorter as it goes, so a 180 GB download that unpacks to 200 GB needs a little over 200 GB free instead of 380. Crash-safe and resumable, tested by killing it at every commit point. ZIP, 7z, tar, RAR and split archives, as a CLI and a native desktop app. - [Breakscale](https://breakscale.tech): Build a system, load it until it breaks, and watch why. A system design simulator with a real discrete-event engine: 33 components, measured percentiles, retry storms that collapse on their own. 1,000+ GitHub stars in its first week, part of Vercel's Open Source Program and sponsored by Workers IO. - [Gyotaku](https://gyotaku.app): Search every screenshot you've ever taken by the text inside it. Native on Linux, macOS and Windows, fully offline: PaddleOCR, SQLite and GPUI, with 1-10ms search across 5,000+ screenshots. - [mytimetheirtime](https://mytimetheirtime.com): Share your free time in someone else's time zone. Drag on a 24-hour clock, and a second clock shows the same hours in their zone. Send it as a short link that opens in the reader's own time zone, with no sign-up and no database: the whole schedule is packed into a link of about 23 characters. - [Kdenlive (GSoC '26)](https://kdenlive.org/): GSoC 2026 contributor for Kdenlive, the open source video editor. Three effect widgets in the C++/Qt codebase, all merged and shipping in Kdenlive 26.08: per-channel Curves, a multi-stop gradient editor, and keyframe types for time remapping. - [Photon](https://xevrion.dev/blogs/photon-blog): A nanosecond-scale NASDAQ ITCH 5.0 feed handler and matching engine in C++20, with zero-copy parsing, a lock-free SPSC ring, busy-polled UDP multicast, and per-symbol order books. 38ns median parse on real market data, measured over loopback. - [Flock](https://flock-demo-canvas.vercel.app): An embeddable real-time presence and multiplayer-cursor SDK. Drop it in and see who else is on the page, with live cursors and awareness, in a few lines of code. - [cutback](https://github.com/xevrion/cutback): Version control for Kdenlive projects. Watches a project folder, commits every save to a local git repo without being asked, and describes what changed in plain English instead of a diff of MLT XML. - [Grindmap](https://grindmap.xevrion.dev): The LeetCode questions companies actually ask, ranked by frequency, as a static site generated straight from CSV data. ## Writing - [Ten Months of $0.00, Then $17.54: Moving xevrion.dev to Vercel](https://xevrion.dev/blogs/digitalocean-to-vercel): The GitHub student credit on my DigitalOcean droplet ran out without a word, so at 1am I moved the whole site to Vercel. What was on the box, what broke, and the one quoted env var that took every database route down. - [GSoC 2026: The Parts That Don't Go in the Report](https://xevrion.dev/blogs/gsoc-2026-what-the-summer-was-actually-like): Three widgets merged into Kdenlive, and everything around them.
