Someone Else Posted It
A stranger's Instagram reel about Breakscale did 131K views, and then a YouTuber shipped a paid version of the same idea.

The biggest thing that happened to my work this week, I had nothing to do with.
The reel
Someone made an Instagram reel about Breakscale. 131,000 views.
239 stars landed on Monday alone, 114 more on Tuesday. Breakscale went from 1,376 to 1,734 stars and 156 forks in a week, and I didn't post anything to cause it.
It's a strange feeling. Every other spike I've had came from something I wrote. This one came from a person I've never spoken to, explaining my project better than my own launch post did.
Twelve people have now shipped code to it. KrAG2000 stabilised the queue panel hint this week so the inspector stops shifting around while you read it.
Then someone shipped it as a product
Midweek, a YouTuber with a large audience launched a paid system design simulator. Same idea, same canvas, same drag-the-traffic-and-watch-it-break.
A friend spotted it before I did and called it out.I replied once, pointing out that Breakscale does that part free and open source, and that every number in it comes from a real discrete-event simulation rather than an animation that looks plausible. That post did 8,298 views.
He put out a video afterwards explaining how his is different, and somewhere in it called Breakscale a cockpit.
So I DM'd him. Told him my reply to his launch was a cheap shot and I was sorry for it, that sys0 looks well made, and congratulations. Then I asked him what felt most overwhelming when he opened Breakscale, because the cockpit thing is fair. I kept adding to that first screen and it shows far too much. I'm making the start simpler.
Being annoyed about it was a worse use of the week than taking the one true sentence out of it.mytimetheirtime
I work with a US team from India and I am tired of doing timezone math in my head.
So I built mytimetheirtime one night. You mark when you're free on a clock, and the other person sees it in their own time. Send a link or an image, no sign-up.
Took about an hour. Live by 3am.
The launch video did 4,459 views, and the follow-up explaining how I made the video with one Claude Code session did 2,451 with 93 bookmarks. People wanted the prompt more than the product, which is its own kind of lesson.
A meme skill
Made a meme skill for Claude Code. It picks the format, writes the captions and renders the image. It made four memes for the launch post and all four were usable, which I did not expect.
It's free, installable straight into Claude Code with the plugin marketplace.
kennel
Spent most of Saturday and Sunday on kennel (not announced yet). The short version: one native window holding every coding-agent session as named tabs that survive a close, a reboot or a crash.
This week was the unglamorous half of it. Every key it binds now comes from one registry, keys are rebindable through a config that refuses bindings which would eat your typing, and the Windows build cross-compiles from Linux with the icon and version info baked in.
Saying more once it's actually out.The rest
gyotaku is at 344 stars with four more PRs merged from people who aren't me: Chiroyce1 made the summon key rebindable on macOS and Windows, YashMahawa added pinch zoom and automatic display sizing, and zamansheikh added a download progress callback to the OCR.
Also gave a Tech Mahindra OA, set up a Wise business account so international payments stop being a problem, and started moving my actual task tracking into Notion. The Discord to-do list has been getting unmanageable, and some of what I'm working on shouldn't be in a public channel anyway.
What I found interesting
- herdr : the runtime your coding agents live on.
- orca : run a fleet of agents with your own subscription, across desktop, mobile and a remote runtime.
- argon : break your AWS architecture before production does. Uncomfortably adjacent to what I build.
- caveman : cuts 65% of your tokens by making the agent talk like a caveman. Why use many token when few token do trick.
- CTFd and niri : the CTF platform, and the compositor I daily drive.
- kaihere14/skills : Arman's agent skills for shipping and marketing products. We built DaemonDoc together, and he's sent PRs to Breakscale since.
Random
Playing DEADFACE CTF with a team. We're 48th with 10,022 points as of now, and it's still running.
5,398 contributions in the last year, and 43.3 billion tokens through Claude Code across 339 sessions. My longest session was 27 days.
Which has consequences.
Crossed 2,206 followers, roughly doubled since August.
134 wpm at 100%, and the home partition is at 94% full.
The laptop has now been up for a day and a half straight.
Watched some Bassi standup to switch my brain off.
And my feed lined this up directly under the box where I type my posts, which felt pointed.
